The Canadian Association of Paralegals (CAP), in collaboration with MKS Immigration Lawyers and McMillan, presents the conference "Immigration practice resilience training for paralegals".

Description :

Join two experienced immigration lawyers as they provide an update on recent legal and policy changes that affect immigration practice.  They will also share tips for success as an immigration paralegal including managing stress, keeping up to date on fast-paced changes, setting boundaries around work, navigating ethical challenges and more.

Speakers


Kyle Hyndman, lawyer - MKS Immigration Lawyers

Kyle practices immigration law with MKS Immigration Lawyers in Victoria.  He has 25 years of experience handling most types of immigration matters.  He’s a past chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s National Immigration Law Section, and a frequent speaker on immigration law issues in the media and to a variety of organizations.

Jae-Yeon Lim, lawyer - McMillan

Jae-Yeon (Jae) Lim is a seasoned Canadian corporate immigration lawyer and Partner at McMillan LLP. She advises companies expanding into Canada on strategic immigration solutions, helping them attract entrepreneurs and global talent to support business growth. Jae works with employers across sectors—from multinational corporations to nonprofits—providing tailored guidance on temporary and permanent relocation, immigration compliance, and workforce planning.
 
Her practice includes designing proactive compliance strategies, representing businesses during inspections, and resolving complex matters such as refusals and inadmissibility. She equips clients with a clear understanding of employer obligations and the intricacies of Canadian immigration law.
 
A committed contributor to the legal community, Jae received the Canadian Bar Association’s Volunteer Contribution Award in 2024 for her leadership in developing high-quality learning materials and facilitating discussions on key issues such as anti-racism and mental health. She also teaches at Queen’s University’s Graduate Diploma in Immigration & Citizenship Law program.
